The circle of life

My mum died yesterday at 1.45 pm. Mr Life and I were with her. It's a time of very mixed emotions - relief that she's freed from her sad state and sadness that she's gone.

Earlier that morning, Daughter 1 went for the first scan of her second pregnancy. Here is Grandson's little sibling, so far known in the family as Volume Two, which is what's written on the front of his/her medical notes.

And so the world turns... .

  1. Oh Isabelle. And So it goes. Now you've made me cry -- so sad, yet so excited for another baby! TheManoftheHouse was quite saddened by your news -- he said our visit with your Mum was the part of our trip that he will remember the most. You seem to be in a year of very big events. Big, Big Hugs coming your way!

  4. I am very sorry about your mother. From what I know, she lived a full life, and how wonderful that she lived to see a great-grandchild! And now you have another grandchild on the way, which is a true blessing.

  6. Hugs to all of you. It's a very moving thing to share your sorrow and happiness here.

How wonderful that your mum lived to such a great age and knew her great-grandson and was fully aware and relating to you all up until so close to the end of her life.

None of which makes it any less heart-rending and painful for you to watch her die and to lose her presence in your life. Please take good care of yourself and let your husband and daughters and son take lots of care of you while you mourn your mother.

  20. So sorry Isabelle. Joy doesn't cancel out sorrow (any more than sorrow should cancel out joy), it just exists with it. 'Love makes the little thickness of the coin', and for sure you have plenty of that. Take good care and be kind to yourself, now and later on.

  24. Sending love and sympathy Isabelle. Life is a strange thing. It is a blessing to have had your Mum for so many years, but the longer you were together, the harder it is to have lost her.
If Volume 2 brings as much love and happiness with him/her as Volume 1, then life will be brighter soon.x

  25. Dear Isabelle,
Please know I am sending you all sympathy and hugs. You can be glad that you know you did everything possible to make your Mum's last year or so as happy and comfortable as you could. She has been blessed having you all around her and seeing wee NJ through his first year.
Lucky you knowing Volume 2 is on the way. ( I live in hope of volume 1 - next year maybe )
Tears are wonderful cleansing things so be they of joy or sadness they serve a purpose.
Wishing you strength for the next few days especially...... give her a wonderful send off for a long and amazing life.
Also wishing Daughter 1 good health for the next few months.
