Wherever Grandson is at the moment -
- in this case the holiday apartment in Harrogate -
he's perfectly content with some strips of white paper,
with which he designs road layouts (these are the white lines in the middle of the road).
Round the corner...
... oops, these have got slightly kicked out of place...
(which it's hard not to do when he uses
all the floors - here, two roads join).
Here's another junction.
And another hatched area, again slightly scuffed by silly adults.
I wonder what we'll find at the end of the road?
Here he is!
Yes, maybe
slightly eccentric. But it's cheap and portable entertainment.
Our older son made roads too, but his were the checks on a blanket!
ReplyDeleteMarvelous! Your grandson is quite a thinker.
ReplyDeleteWe had a game from Ravensburger called Rivers, Roads, and Rails. It was like a puzzle where you set out tiles with rivers, roads, and rails on them and matched them to create little towns. My son loved it when he was little, but nothing beats the simplicity of using your imagination to turn little slips of paper into a might roadway.
*mighty
ReplyDeleteHow cute is that! His destiny seems to have been in his soul from Day One, lol. Sad news over here, Topsy died last week...
ReplyDeleteCould you send him down to his Granny in Worcester to sort out the mess the new road layout has caused? http://www.worcesternews.co.uk/news/12978175.Council_to_bring_forward_safety_investigation_after_video_of_Ketch_island_is_seen_68_000_times/
ReplyDeleteI'm sure he'd be up to the job :-)
We'll put him on the next train...
DeleteClever, indeed...Who cut out those white strips? And may your grandson always be able to entertain himself so creatively!
ReplyDeleteOh, we cut them out. He's not able to do this yet.
DeleteIf he's not a civil engineer when he grows up I'll eat my hat.
ReplyDeleteI wonder if he will eventually have a career in traffic management?!
ReplyDeleteWow, what a clever, clever little boy! And how fun for the rest of you to be able to play along -- I'll bet he loves it!!!
ReplyDeleteA perfect illustration of how good children are at playing imaginatively - with minimal materials!
ReplyDeleteWho picks them all up? Not him, I bet! or are they to stay in position indefinitely?
