This is the view of the house from the sitooterie.
This is the sitooterie. A sitooterie is a place in the garden where you can... sit out. Or oot.
The last few days, for reasons with which I will not trouble you, haven't been fantastic. Which makes it quite nice, sometimes, to sit in the sitooterie and wallow for a while in self-pity. And then get up and get on with life.
Humph. As I may have said before.
I love your Sitooterie Do you have a ben the hoose and a doon the road like we have in Aberdeen I know I am in Australia but I still use these Sayings LOL.

I love the sitooterie name - and after the gorgonzola I can imagine exactly how you say it too!

Oh dear, don't like to think of you humphing! Lovely sitooterie - but how on earth have you managed to get a photograph taken in our fair city that doesn't have monsoon rain running all over it? As I type all I can hear is the hissing of rain battering through the trees like a barrelful of self-satisfied rattlesnakes. I'm moving to your side of the toon.

We have a lady from Scotland at our work here in Aust, who said "Did you no peekie in?"when a colleague called at her house and thought she wasn't home.A few of us have adopted this saying, so I will now add sitooterie. How about..."Did you no peekie in..I was in the sitooterie" Probably makes perfect sense to you.I think its delightful.
ReplyDeleteI find it somewhat paradoxical that you in Scotland have a Sitooterie to get away by yourself, and I, in Australia, have a carefully chosen warm *inside* spot which subserves the same function! Judging from what Loth said, and from my expectations of the climate, you wouldn't have much opportunity to wallow. I need regular and frequent wallowing...maybe you have another 'reserved' spot!

Now my favourite remedy for a humph moment. triple choc chip chocolate muffins. Just made them up and they're yummy! Can I send you one? Look like they have more than choc chips in them. Sugar rush and exhilaration you feel after eating just one bite is amazing! Warmed and eaten with a dollop of double cream whilst sitting in your sitooterie would be just the ticket!
ReplyDeleteSitooterie! Glad you explained it. We have a pergola and a patio - will they do as a substitute for somewhere to sit and be gloomy? Sorry you've got the blues; we have too, after a vandalism attack yesterday. Rotten kids. Glad I haven't got any.

Just got caught up on your latest posts. I know just how you feel about wanting to still protect and cuddle your child, even though he's an adult now. It's so hard to let go, isn't it? I love your "sitooterie." Funny how Americans always tease Canadians about how they say the word "out." They roar with laughter when it comes out sounding a bit like "oot." Ah, well better than how they say "roof" (ruf)

ReplyDeleteJust to say the computer came direct from Dell, so there is no problem there. And I will return it within the 14 days moneyback period we have if they don't replace it. It just makes me so sad to see the boy's face.
