As I rush from class to class, I often hear snatches of conversation from students going in the opposite direction.
This week, for example:
* Like - I - like, don't even - like - like him.
* His reaction to any problem is to take his shirt off.
* I'm so excited. My brother's coming up from London and we're getting fake tans together. Well, not together. One at a time.
* I was lucky enough to be born cynical, so I'm never disappointed.
(I hardly ever react to problems by taking my shirt off, and though my brother sometimes comes up from London we've never shared a fake tan - not even one at a time. Maybe I should suggest it next time.)
Ha! Your snippets made me chuckle! Thanks!! :)
ReplyDeleteI've grown my cynicism with care and good peat.
ReplyDeleteI was walking the dog in the park recently when 2 teenage girls walked past, one was on her mobile phone. The only thing I heard her say was 'He said to come back if it got any redder or more swollen.' I laughed to myself for the rest of the dog walk.
ReplyDeleteWhen I feel bits of conversation such as these, I suspect that the other people are having far more interesting lives than I am.
ReplyDeleteYou're so funny Isabelle! I thought that "Like I...like uh..." speech was only a problem here in the states!
ReplyDeleteI really like the idea of any problem being solved with taking your shirt off.
ReplyDeleteCould you imagine what would happen in parliament? People would be trying to avoid as many problems as possible.....just the sight.....urgh!
Still laughing though.
You have a great sense of humour! You're clever to remember those bits of conversation hours later and post them on your blog - I'd chuckle at the time, then forget them five minutes later!
ReplyDeleteOnce overheard on a #26 on Princes St, in reference to a broken cassette player: "The effing effer's effing effed"
ReplyDeleteOnly the kid wasn't saying "eff".

ReplyDeleteWhat a hoot!! Love the bits of conversations!! I'll have to keep my ears open at Christmas when the girls are here!! One year I wrote down comments as they opened presents and they were hilarious!
ReplyDeleteJoni
I think if everyone would take their shirts off when there's a problem, people would either stop having problems or start having them a lot more often.
ReplyDeleteWell, while I have been unconscious on the floor, I see you have posted many enjoyable posts, plus had a completely lovely giveaway. I missed it all. But, I must say, I have enjoyed catching up on your posts... and Hearty Congratulations to your winners!!
ReplyDeleteLucky enough to be born cynical! Oh I will be chortling over that one all night :)
