"It's a pity," said my colleague J, slightly late for class because he was searching frantically for the handouts he had photocopied just minutes before, "that there are only a certain number of times you can say:
I'm usually very organised ... ."(The picture is not of J but of Daughter 1's guinea pig Pumpkin. Look at the light of intelligence in her eyes. )
Hahaha -- truer words were never spoken. And how fun to have Pumpkin deliver those words!
ReplyDeleteJ must be a kindred spirit! I'm usually very organized except when I'm not, which is a lot of the timer.....He's not, by any chance, your Irish colleague, is he?
ReplyDeleteMm.I used to be in university admin and I more than once caught an academic telling students that 'the admin people are usually so organised ..' when I'd had to belt across the campus to some far flung lecture theatre and arrive breathless with the handouts said academic had left behind on top of the photocopier!
ReplyDeleteI'm sure though that Pumpkin is supremely organised - make that funny squeeky noise that guinea pigs do and someone provides the food.
Irish, Molly? I couldn't possibly comment...
ReplyDeletei ran out of believable opportunities to say that loooong ago ... now i just shrug my shoulders and blame everything on menopause
ReplyDeleteI'm afraid I must have used up my quota of muttering those few words..

Inner certainty is great. Proving it is another matter entirely.
ReplyDeleteI hope you had a happy St Patrick's Day.
If in doubt ask a guinea pig!
ReplyDeletePumpkin has a very wise expression. Has she considered going on the lecture circuit?
ReplyDeleteAfter too many repetitions it comes to mean "In my head, I'm very organized..."
