Note from candidate

This sort of thing is rare but always brings a smile...

90 scripts marked. 125 to go.

  1. Doesn't it just make you want to say, "Nice try..."?

  2. I'm afraid I wouldn't be able to be tough like Rachel -- I'd have to squeak in a few extra points! ;-)

  3. I don't think there is much room for manoeuvre in the marking scheme these days is there?

  4. That brought back memories.
When I was sitting University Entrance, one exam was so unexpectedly easy that I wrote a note saying "Dear Examiner, Happy Christmas" (our exams were in November).
The school told me I'd lose marks, but I don't think that happened, from the results.
    Ninety done is very impressive.

  5. And were you extra nice in your marking? I suspect I might have been, a little charm goes a long way.

  7. My favourite is, in response to, 'do you think these poems are depressing?' ... 'you bet. You should have sat in Room 4 with Mrs Jones listening to her banging on about Wordsworth for hours. You'd have been depressed, too.'

  8. Anyway, what are you marking? I have 450 GCSE English Literature scripts sitting on my living room floor. But I still have to do all the standardisation thing first.

  12. I'm in the "awwww, sweet" camp and would be kind but perhaps when you have seen sub-standard efforts prefaced with pleas for kindness your heart becaomes hardened??
