Whew

I do hope none of my bloggy friends have been doing anything particularly fascinating recently because I'm so behind in my blog visiting and, especially, commenting. I will be back eventually.

When we got back from holiday, my poor confused aunt had deteriorated further and, in brief, we moved her into a care home today. What with that and the church magazine, which I edit and which is growing huger with every edition, there hasn't been a moment. Writing posts takes a matter of minutes. Reading and commenting takes a long time and it's a pleasure I'm looking forward to.

The relief of finding my aunt a home is enormous. I just hope she's happy there. At the moment, she's pretty confused, though endlessly polite and obliging.

I heard two girl students discussing a friend in the corridor the other day, Maybe he has the practical attitude that the rest of us might adopt, faced with life's little difficulties:

"The trouble with him," said one student to another, "is that he thinks the solution to every problem is to take his shirt off."

I'm not sure that would work so well for me.

  1. Haha -- I'm SURE that wouldn't work for me! I'm happy that you've finally found a place for your aunt. She'll probably soon be acclimated to her new home. Boy, you've been busy -- I can't imagine starting the new school year AND moving your aunt. Hopefully things will settle down now for you!

  2. You're excused - finding a home for your aunt will have been emotionally challenging too, I would imagine. Glad it all got settled in the end, as I'm sure she will be too, given a little time.

  3. I'm so pleased you've found somewhere for your aunt, I know it's been a worry - at least she amiable and that helps a lot, I'm sure.
Not sure about taking one's shirt off - might lead to unnecessary complication :-)

  5. yes, i too hope that this proves a happy solution for your aunt. i can think of very few problems that can be solved by taking off one's shirt - except for being very hot, or having wasps inside it...

  6. Glad to hear you got your aunt sorted out. And you know, of course, that I stopped posting for a while PURELY to allow you a breathing space, didn't you?

  7. What a relief to have found a place for your poor aunt.
Apropos of what the world has been doing, we have had an election here, and the result is still in doubt.

  9. Glad to hear you have found a new home for your Aunt. From your previous descriptions of her, she sounds a bit like my MIL, in that she is willing to fit in with whatever is decided for her - 'polite and obliging' as you put it. All the more reason then for us to monitor the care facility to make sure they continue to look after her.
