Eyelashes and whiskers
It's difficult to get a nice picture of two small children. And I didn't. Just a moment before, they were smiling charmingly. Ah well.
Lovely weather yesterday for an outing to the playpark.
I wish I had his eyelashes. Or at least similar ones.
Sirius: we took him to the vet on Monday and he's so much better (on his two steroids per day) that the vet now doubts that his problem is lung cancer and is veering back towards asthma again. Which is very good news. However, the problem now is to cut him down to as little medication as possible while keeping him reasonably well.
How I administer his pill is to crush it with a mortar and pestle, mix it with a dab of Greek yogurt and wipe it on his paw. He then sighs heavily ("Why does she keep doing this?") and licks it off.
Maybe it's the yogurt that's the secret of his improved health... .

That's good news about Sirius.
ReplyDeleteI loved your story of the smocked baby dress. I'm sure the maker will be delighted to know it is being worn.
Recently my sister returned to me a smocked baby dress made of pink rosebud fabric that I made entirely by hand in Standard 6 for sewing. It is well enough made that it could be worn again. I think I gave it to her for her daughter ( my niece ) way back in the early 1970s. It wasn't suitable to put either of my baby boys in!
I was really surprised to see it again.
I'm glad Sirius is taking his meds coated in yoghourt - it didn't work for my Abby. She just licked all the yoghourt around the crushed pills and walked away in disgust.
ReplyDeleteYay Sirius! I'm a big believer in the benefits of daily yoghurt consumption. My kids have to have one every day! They are very healthy children. I want eyelashes like my children too. I never go out without mascara because my lashes are short and pale.
ReplyDeleteGuess where I am am? Visiting two small cowboys in Wyoming and we got snow today..... In September! So glad about Mr Sirius!
ReplyDeleteGood news about Sirius. My elderly cat had his worm pill thrown to the back of his throat so he had to swallow it...the only way with him! He is much too canny to be fooled any other way.
ReplyDeleteYou are doing well to get pills into Sirius......we have had mixed success dosing our various cats over the years.
ReplyDeleteSo pleased to hear about Sirius; let's hope the vet has got it right this time. I would hate to be responsible for diagnosing medical problems with animals. At least people can tell their doctor how they feel. I have great respect for doctors and vets!
ReplyDeleteWe do the pill thing like Frances does - thrown down the back of the throat - works most of the time.
So glad to hear Sirius is doing better.
ReplyDeleteWhat beautiful grandchildren you have.
But what fun you will have trying to get a good picture of two children at once!
ReplyDeleteGetting a good shot of both my grandsons together is almost impossible . At least one usually picks just that moment to cross his eyes or hiccup . But actually , I like the unposed ones just as much . In years to come , I'll fish all these odd ones , too , and it'll bring these years back so clearly .
ReplyDeleteSo glad to hear about Sirius! And, as always, I love the pictures of the adorable grandchildren! I wish I had lovely lashes, as well. I am blond and fair, so if I don't apply mascara, it looks as if I no lashes at all.
ReplyDeleteYay! Sirius is doing so much better! That's what happened to Sally, Mum's pretty little black kitty. It's so hard, since they can't talk to you to tell you about their problems. Love those sweet little babies!
ReplyDeleteIf the yogurt improves his health, I'm trying it on my kitty! 8-)
