It's beginning to look a lot like...
Daughter 2 is home for a few days.
The house is becoming Christmassy.
Oh dear, I must tidy those books. We need more bookshelves or perhaps fewer books.
Santa, the Christmas Elves and a gingerbread man.
The tree.
Still quite a lot of shopping to do, though.
I've cut the binding for my quilt but decorating took precedence after that. I hope my sewing machine is going to cooperate. It doesn't really like sewing through several layers, which may well be a slight problem. Listen out for howls of anguish in the next day or two.

We are having a snowstorm today, so I decided to start decorating. I've no tree, though, and wasn't about to head out to buy one (a nice compact version was on sale today only, too. sigh)
ReplyDeleteI like your stick on wreath.
Love your pretty wreath! Once the decorations start to be put out, the whole house takes on a more Christmassy feel.
ReplyDeleteIt's not a stick-on wreath. It's glass and hung on.
ReplyDeleteHowever, thank you anyway.
ReplyDeleteI hope you can keep all those lovely things intact with small people around. I especially like your glass wreath,
ReplyDeleteIsabelle, no doubt one of your other quilting readers will tell you this, but the most effective way of sewing through those layers is to use a special foot called a walking foot. It stops the bottom layer of fabric puckering, and feeds all three layers through together.
ReplyDeleteYour Christmas decorations are lovely. From what we are hearing Down Under, you guys in the northern hemisphere are having a very white Christmas - brrrrr!
Ditto to what Gina said. It's looking very festive over there!
ReplyDeletecookies - that seems to be all that you are missing!!!
ReplyDeletep.s. - i sew on binding using a slightly longer-than-normal stitch length and the walking foot (that did NOT come with my machine and was kinda pricey) with fair-to-middling results ... you are almost there!!!
White? No, no whiteness. So: I need a walking foot? Pretty sure I don't have one of those apart from those on the ends of my legs.
ReplyDeleteOn first read-through, I thought you said "Christmas Elvis"... and laughed! Of course, now I can't get "I'll Have a Blue Christmas" out of my head. Thanks for that. 8-)
ReplyDeleteIsn't it funny how a picture can be a bit deceiving? I thought the wreath was stick on too -- now I REALLY love it -- it's beautiful! Your tree looks gorgeous too -- are the grandkids good around it?
ReplyDeleteYour stained glass wreath is beautiful! And the rest of your house also, but I've always been very attracted to stained glass, to color and light. How nice that your daughter #2 is with you for a visit.
