Yesterday we went to Lauriston Castle and walked in the grounds (in permitted pairs) with Daughter 1 and her husband and children. It's somewhat muddy - far more people than usual are going there - places to go being somewhat limited at the moment. But children can always have fun jumping in muddy puddles.
Looking longingly over the sea to Fife - if only.
Then the children came back with us and had fun here. They don't seem to be particularly depressed by lockdown, which is so good.
We got the first dose of our vaccines today, in a very well-organised operation at the Conference Centre in town. Amusingly, we met lots of people we knew in the street going to or coming from the centre - clearly ours was the area designated for this afternoon. It was almost sociable! No ill effects so far.
Good for you! My d-i-l has had her second "jab" as you call it and has had no ill effects. She got it because she is a dentist. The rest of us have to wait. Our well-loved children are suffering very little with lockdowns, but I truly pity all of those people in unhappy or abusive homes. This must be a nightmare for them!
ReplyDeleteJag, is what we call it in Scotland!
DeleteSo glad you're getting out and about. YAY for the vaccine. I managed to get a drive through appointment for my mom--now to make her go! I'm not sure my dad should have the vaccine while he's doing chemo. He needs to ask his oncologist.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you've had your first shots - it is of the two-shot variety, isn't it? Is the UK doing any of the other yet? We're way down the list - probably mid-year before anyone gets a vaccine here, but there's no urgency. We wouldn't open the borders until everyone is safe, and possibly until the international situation was considerably cooler than it is now! I doubt we'd trust/believe "Certificate of vaccination" as a border measure for incomers, they're too likely to be forged, or allow in people whose shots were not genuine.
ReplyDeleteYour two are resilient kids. With wonderfully supportive families. It's some of the others I worry about.
Yes, we got the Oxford vaccine. I think all the vaccines here are in two doses. The next one should be the end of April.
DeleteYay! you've had a shot! I took mummy to get hers -- also at a conference/convention center and also extremely organized. I suspect we'll be eligible in another month or two -- I was wishing we could have had them at the same time -- maybe we can get the first shot at the same time that she gets the second one.
ReplyDeleteAnd I'm so happy the children are doing well. They'll probably look back on this with fond memories, remembering the year they got to spend so much time with Granny!

PS -- my feed reader showed a bit different version of this post - it was surprising (and fun) to see a pic of A on your computer!
