We have snowdrops and crocuses in the garden - not fully out crocuses, but they're showing colour. I'm eager to get the spring tidy done. On the other hand, it's chilly - not frosty, but not tempting. Playing with old shirts is more fun.
I always wanted to make a quilt (a quilt - and I'm now on my 27th!) but never had time before I retired from teaching and indeed till after my mum died because she was then ill and needed looking after. My lovely mum was a chilly (not in personality, Margaret! - just in temperature) person and I now wish that I'd been able to make her a quilt to sit under in her pink chair. She'd have been impressed, too - not that my quilts are impressive, but she was my mum. She died 13 and a half years ago and I miss her a lot.

She died about the same time as my husband. At first I thought you meant a chilly person in personality and I couldn't imagine that. She tended to be cold, like my dear mother who always had a blanket or throw over her. My crocuses will be out soon, and the tulips have come up a lot. We've skipped winter and gone straight to spring. (60 degrees this time of year is unusual)
ReplyDeleteYour quilt squares are lovely together - they remind me of sea glass colors. It's interesting how we can miss our Moms so keenly - sometimes out of the blue. I was missing mine a lot the other day too.
ReplyDeleteI miss Granny too. I'm sure she'd be very proud of your quilts as well as enjoying the cosiness.
ReplyDeleteThose who we loved, and who loved and grounded us, are always close. I wasn't very close to my mother (boarding school from the age of 8 makes you very self-sufficient) but I adored my aunt who was much more of a mother to me, and miss her dreadfully even though she died 28 years ago! Mother died 35 years ago, for goodness sake- how could that be - I'm not that old!!
ReplyDeleteYour shirt stars are wonderful - don't let them be overpowered by the rest of the design, will you!
