We've just come back from a couple of days in Kenmore, on Loch Tay, and on the way there went to Branklyn Gardens in Perth, where as we knew there are the most beautiful blue poppies - as well as lots of other flowering plants.
So this is a rather one-subject post,
but I took so many photos of them
(these are a small sample)
that I just thought
I'd devote a post to them. (Pity about that orange rhododendron.)
So here they are.
Aren't they lovely?
My own three plants are a bit feeble in comparison.
But if I live another thirty years or so I might get this effect. I think the variety here might be my favourite.
I love blue poppies! Blue flowers are so unusual.
ReplyDeleteMore gorgeous blue flowers!!! Last year, for the first time I planted forget-me-knots. I was a little disappointed at first that they were so small, but then when they all bloomed, they were so pretty. This year, a bunch of them have just come up on their own (they were billed as annuals) so, I've just left them which will make my garden look a little hap-hazard, but pretty I hope. It would be fun to try those beautiful blue poppies, but I'm too chicken LOL.
ReplyDeleteForget-me-nots, or the kind we have here, are biennial, so they bloom in their second year and then die, BUT set lots of seeds, so unless you diligently weed these out, you'll always have lots. Hence the name. I love them but there comes a point when instead of looking beautifully prolific they just look scruffy, which is the point that I pull them up. But then there are always little plants for next year. I love them.
