Boy at table

Today we took Daughter 1, her husband and my mum to see Son in Perth. We had lunch in the Royal George Hotel (rather a fine lunch, actually) and then walked in lovely National Trust Branklyn Gardens. The colours were spectacular but it's rather late and I must tidy up and go to bed so I won't take time to post more pictures just now.

This post is a bit of an experiment to see whether Mr Life, who downloaded the photos from my phone (but they were all sideways, gah) has managed to turn them so that they remain turned on the blog. Yes, seems to be the answer.

I've only recently got a phone with a camera so that I can take photos (I hope) of our grandson, in about ten weeks.

Meanwhile, here's our son awaiting his lunch.

A minor mystery: quite a lot more people click on my blog than did this time last year, but I get far fewer comments. I wonder why. My theory is that my bloggy friends now read more blogs than they did before so don't have time to leave as many comments. This is probably true of me too - because I read so many blogs, I sometimes read several of people's posts at a time so leave a comment only on the most recent one.

Not that it matters. I'm just interested. Eight seems to be the magic number for comments on my blog in recent weeks.

Anyway. I hear a bubbly bath calling my name (or at least I will when I've run it). Have a good week.

  1. well then, i shall be one of eight ... that is more than my own average, but i don't have all that many readers (because i am boring and inconsistent and not note-worthy) ... Auntia is not her Given Name, it is her given name by people who count (mostly Nephew One show thought speaking Spanish meant adding "ah" or "oh" to the end of any word)

    happy mother's day to you!

  2. and i shall be two of eight, also - that should be "who thought", not "show thought" - i dunno why i don't catch these things before i hit the publish button

  3. Happy Mother's Day, Isabelle!! Your son looks so cute sitting at the table by himself. He looks so very young!

  4. Well, I'll be polite and say Hello, since I followed your link from ...the sight of morning... (Diversion Therapy) out of curiosity!

    Best wishes!

  5. When you said Perth I thought for a split second that you all popped over to Australia!

  6. Number six. I'm not much of a commenter these days either. I think people are just getting out more now that summer is here.

  7. I am so frightfully busy at present that I dont have time to write blog posts, and when I do get to read blogs I find I cant really summon anything much sensible to say.
How can that baby be due in only ten weeks?
You see? I miss so much at this pace. I am excited. I cant wait to see him.

  8. Perhaps it's because the comments are disappearing into cyberspace - that's happened twice just lately when I've gone to post a comment on your blog! Ah well, we've got to eight quite early in the day - who knows to what dizzy heights you could reach today :)

  9. Anonymous2:25 pm

In my case, I have recently switched to having all my favourite blogs opening in Google Reader, which means that I read all the blogs that have new content then forget to open the 'blog proper' to leave a comment. There is only one blog that allows one to comment from the Reader. At least I have made the effort today!

  10. My comments have diminished too - I wondered if I'd offended but I still seem to have the same number of readers so perhaps people can't find anything to say. I'm sure that's not the reason in your case though!

  11. I read, but rarely find anything to say without sounding gormless or banal. But I read!

  13. Can't remember last time I had 8 comments! But then I don't have such cute cats or such a nice garden, which must help!

  14. I don't always comment because I don't want you to think I'm a stalker.

  16. I read but I am easily intimidated by the erudite comments of previous peeps. I was born in Perth, in the Royal Infirmary, no less, and there were so many births that they had beds in the middle of the ward too...or so mum told me!

  17. My bloggy friends all come out with love and kind thoughts when my posts are full of misery. Which helps no end to cheer me up! Otherwise, I think they hang around hoping for a laugh. As for me leaving comments, the older my PC gets, the more trouble I have reading my favourite blogs, because the PC freezes up sometimes. So not only can I not read many blogs, I cannot leave comments either. Thanks you for not tizzying your blog up, Isabelle!

  19. Doctors keep getting younger every year don't they?

I don't get as many comments either, but probably as many visitors. Lately I've been a bit slow to get back into the blogging routine, and started reading around without commenting, it felt strange, a bit of a cheat really, I feel I should try to comment when I read. Like you though, I often read several posts at once. Reading on a feed makes people a bit lazy about commenting perhaps, but that doesn't register anyway I don't think.

(Who are these erudite geezers intimidating Gillie then? sound like they need a good sorting...)

  20. Now look, you've got 19 comments, nothing like a comment fishing post! I'll make it a round twenty.
