First two sentences of a student's essay:
"The theme of insanity has been present in many of Shakespeare's plays and literary works. Shakespeare was born and raised in Stratford-upon-Avon where at the age of eighteen he married Anne Hathaway."
Yes, well his parents probably thought he was mad to marry her.
Students appear to be experts at creating non sequiturs.
ReplyDeleteThe fun you have with those papers!!
ReplyDeleteDaughter's red top is the perfect showcase for Cassie's wonderful glossy coat.
My daughters Shakespeare assignment this week:
ReplyDelete"Shakespeare was one of the greatest writers in the English language. He knew approximately 66,000 words, and the average person today only knows 40,000."
hmmm.
Ha! She'd obviously heard that old "marriage is an institution" joke!
ReplyDeleteOh dear. Well nobody is around to dispute insanity after all!
ReplyDeleteCassie with your daughter ah sweet!
I don't know Isabelle, perhaps you're missing the link to the insanity? Maybe it was the being born and raised in Stratford-Upon-Avon LOL???
ReplyDeleteHow do you keep a straight face? Maybe you don't!
ReplyDeleteI love the photo of daughter and cat.
At least you get a bit of a laugh as you mark the essays!
ReplyDeleteThe comments only add to the mirth :)
ReplyDeleteI do love your kitty pics, and yes, the red top makes a beautiful background.
I'm trying not to laugh - I've got my daughter's parents' evening tonight and I'm sure there will be one or two of those howlers waiting for me!
ReplyDeleteKimx
Not bad....
ReplyDeleteThe best one I've had is "On the night they met, Romeo and Juliet exchanged vowels." (Year 10)
Hmm, stating the facts - especially irrelevant ones - isn't really a substitute for argument, is it?
