Like the rest of the world, we in Britain have been hearing about the terrible fires in Victoria. I do hope that all my blog friends and their friends and family are safe. My thoughts are with all those who have been affected by these dreadful events.

ReplyDeleteAbsolutely. Hard to believe that is going on when we are shivering in a dreich Scottish winter.
ReplyDeleteI can't even begin to imgaine what it would like. My school friend (the one I travelled with) lives there. I was so relived to receive an email last night to say they are all ok.
ReplyDeleteWe are fortunate we are not in a fire or flood situation. A firebug deliberately lit a bushfire in the hills above where we live, but it has been contained & this morning we have had a huge thunderstorm with some useful rain.
ReplyDeleteWith the mounting death toll rising in Victoria, it seems the nightmare is far from over for those poor people.
We have not lost any family, but it is impossible not to cry at the horror of it all.
It has been horrible to listen to or watch the news.
ReplyDeleteCanberra had its turn in 2003 when we lost over 450 houses but, mercifully, only 4 deaths; we are watching aghast as the death toll heads towards 200.I have been through many bushfire seaons and places but this is way beyond most of us. Victoria seems to cop a pounding most summers. Seems almost the final straw after weeks of such sweltering temperatures. See how we can envy your cold and wet sometimes!
This Victorian blog friend assures you that I am (and my family is) safe and well out of harm's way. But boy, are we shocked and saddened by what has happened and what continues to go on. Today I could actually see some of the smoke from my upstairs windows - it's a long way away, but a reminder that this terrible tragedy is not over yet.

ReplyDeleteThank you Isabelle.
ReplyDeleteThank you Isabelle. I have completed my interview - do I post it on one of these comment forms, email it to you, or put it on my own blog??
ReplyDeleteThank you for your kind thoughts. It is so devastating here. It is beyond beyond belief.
ReplyDeleteI totally agree. Words fail me.
ReplyDeleteLook! Some bright news for you Isabelle!
ReplyDeleteThis comment for you~

I am still reading but am temporarily not in Salford as I am on maternity leave! (so now you know I am a woman and of a certain age...)
I don't have a blog so can't comment on your blog."
I do allow anon comments, because some of my rellies don't have blogs, & occasionally want to leave me a comment, or join in with someone else's comment.
I just found a very curious comment on Meggie's blog...which I thought may have been meant for here?

not sure if it's my business, but I think there is a solution to your mystery.
Oh, yes, the fires are awful and are still burning as I type. i have had to turn the radio off, make a big donation, and feel quietly sad. there are just so many awful stories, as you can imagine.
