Happy Independence Day, America!

We've been in York for a few days with the family. (Would this row of shops pass building regulations these days?) The cats were looked after by a bloggy friend - more of this anon.

There was delicious cake, made by Daughter 2 - I'll tell you another time about the significance of the design.

I got some very exciting presents including this from Mr Life!
I believe that America celebrated on Sunday also. So kind of the whole country to set off fireworks for my birthday.

I deserve this because I am now old enough to get a free bus pass.

When we got home, I unwrapped this present from Molly Bawn and Rise. Thank you so much! Isn't the bloggy world wonderful? It provides cat-sitters and also gifts from people whose proper names you don't even know!

  2. Happy, Happy Birthday Isabelle! It looks like you've been treated royally - as it should be! And now I have to laugh -- when Molly mentioned sisters I thought...hmm, I don't remember anything about sisters but I played along...and now she I see meant Rise all along. Whew -- I'm not losing my mind after all (well at least not on this issue) LOL. Can't wait to hear more about your trip!

  4. What a lovely celebration, and beautiful gifts. did you have a say in the ring, or was Mr Life able to select it unaided - right size and all?

  6. Happy Birthday! A bus pass is a wonderful thing, I think, especially if it's raining and you just want to hop on a bus for the last couple of stops - no guilt about wasting a full fare!

  19. Happy Birthday Isabelle!! The ring is beautiful!! You must have been a really good girl. Your cake is lovely... what a talented daughter.

That was so sweet of you to wish us a Happy 4th of July. However it drove me nuts this year. Fireworks went on for 3 days in our little town and my poor doggy was a bit goofy from it all. Next year I shall try to get to Boston for the 4th and listen to the Boston Pops play the 1812 overture along the Charles River. Now that's a great 4th!!
    Hugs to you,
    Joni

    Happy Birthday, Isabelle!
By the way, I enjoy very much your blog. I'm just one year older and your profile could be mine! Except that I'm not a teacher and don't sing either! :-)
