Some of us have the art of relaxation...

... and others of us do not.

I never would have believed it before I retired, but life has been too busy to find time to blog. I haven't even been reading other people's blogs except in the most occasional and non-commenty way.

When I started blogging, in 2006 (I think it was) we were in the run-up to Daughter 1's wedding. Since then we've had Daughter 2's wedding and now it's only six weeks yesterday to Son's. Do I have anything to wear at this wedding? Well, no. I do hate clothes and thinking about them.

I must go and mark Higher English exams (yes, not quite fully retired yet) and practise my fiendishly difficult piano piece in which the left hand goes twice as fast as the right. Theoretically.

  1. You have my wholehearted sympathy about the attire for a son's wedding. Thankfully a bit further away than six weeks. Good luck finding something.

  2. Some arts are over-rated!

  3. It's probably a silly question, but why are the cushions all piled on the table?

  4. Your forward planning is most impressive - putting all those cushions up so high, so as to make those cats exercise before they get to rest at the summit.
Good luck with the attire. Find a helpful friend and get her to drag you around the shops. If all else fails, wear what you had for the last wedding, or buy a nice blue suit.

  5. Chortling with glee over here! You thought you were going to RELAX when you retired??
Seriously, you have had a lot on your plate; just think how much more difficult the past year would have been if you were still working. Sometimes things just work out that way.

  6. My father and now my Mother both said after they retired that they don't know how they got everything done. I told my Dad, and now my Mother, it's because they didn't do everything that they thought they did before they retired. (Also, if they weren't home the house didn't get dirty and you didn't see the yard work that needed to be done.)

  7. When you and everyone else is at home all day, every day, there's so much more to do. People, inconveniently, want to keep eating, use twice as many towels, wear lots more clothes (can't fathom why this should be, but it seems to be so). The house doesn't stay clean or tidy for more than a few minutes and even if you're not fanatically houseproud you have to do the minimum to keep it all hygenic and food shop to keep up with demand! I'm definitely coming back as a pampered cat in my next incarnation .. Thankfully, I don't have to find a wedding outfit too.

  8. Life is full! Good luck with the wedding shopping. Just think, this is the last time you'll have to go wedding shopping. And yes, we must know why the cushions are on the table!!!

  9. Find a dress that's comfortable enough to dance, eat, and drink in, and HAVE A WONDERFUL TIME! I do love weddings... whether I know the bride and groom or not! I'd be a great wedding crasher, I think.

  10. The Lovely Son anticipates a wedding (in the next couple of years, thankfully, not right now) in Mexico. Now that's worrying, from an outfit POV.....
