The last few days have featured a lot of lashing rain and battering winds. Our college is built round a courtyard and if you’re in the corridor on one side of this courtyard on such days, you can hear the wind moaning in a really “Wooo!” sort of way.
Yesterday I was walking along this way to my class in the late afternoon. I glanced out at the uninviting weather as the sky darkened, the rain poured and the wind howled. I was thinking thoughts of Florida, or Australia, or possibly my bed.
A lovely cheery student called Abdul, who wasn’t born in Scotland, passed me, beamed, and said in his lilting accent, “The wind is singing a beautiful song.”
And, in a way, it was.
How romantic!
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely attitude towards inclement weather! and no, I'm not a "wage slave"! Sometimes wish I was.At least that way you feel like a contributing member of society....
ReplyDeleteThanks for dropping by! Thinking of you - I'm guessing things aren't getting any easier?
ReplyDeleteYou're in Edinburgh aren't you? My home town! I hope things start getting better for you soon.
ReplyDeleteI'm much like Abdul in that I always look for the bright side of things. You might not get that impression reading my blog posts about the Christmas stocking, but really, under all the whining, I AM enjoying it and count my lucky stars that I have all that spare time that I CAN devote to my hobbies.
ReplyDeleteAustralia is about to have a record-breaking hot (think 40 degrees plus), dry summer with high risk of bushfires and a confirmed drought pushing food prices up all round and killing livestock and gardens.
ReplyDeleteSo lashing rain and wind can seem like a good thing!
Here via Molly's site, I like your photos.
