Compare and contrast

How assiduously small children play. Grandson enjoys lining cars up and rearranging them and talking them through imaginary traffic jams. Here he is at the church crèche this morning. (I'm not good at moving pictures around on a blog post. I don't know if this only shows in the draft version, but currently there's a tiny image of the picture below inside the one I'm trying to post... . I always have trouble if I try to change the order of my photos.)

Granddaughter and Grandson, both at seven months. I don't think they really look like each other apart from - you know - being babies and a bit bald. And ravishingly beautiful, of course. And jolly.

I do love having the family. But when they've gone, you can tell that Grandson's been here.

  1. Our older son used to do the same thing with his cars and trucks.....he had a checked blanket on his bed, and he would line them up in a row one car/truck to a square, then move the first one forward one square, then the second, until they had all moved one square.....then he would move the first one again, etc......

  3. You do have an interesting collage effect today! Grandson is overlapping Granddaughter. I wish I could help but fear i might make matters worse.

If you click on any of the pictures, that picture comes up on its own with the others lined up at the bottom of the frame, all separated and easy to see!

Both the children always look so happy.

  5. You can indeed tell your sweet grandson has been there, but we wouldn't count that as anything but a blessing, would we! We grandmothers. I've had to rearrange a bit since I had a cupboard at child level with many board games with many small pieces and now, they've been moved and I am putting toys into that space!

  6. Hahaha - I love the destruction in the wake of Branson's visit. Do the babies tend to favor different sides of the family in their appearance?

  7. Branson? Is this a typo or it is some sort of composite...? It's not little N's name.

  10. The joys of grandparenting. My living room floor looks just like this, but the wretched imps are still upstairs...

  11. The lining up of cars is just the sweetest thing. Cherub used to lie down and gently murmur whilst lining them up, it would happen for quite long stretches of time. I still think if you put a mess of cars in front of the 10 and 12 year Los they would line them up still.
