The sorrows and the joys of English teaching

More little nuggets from today's essays:

* The men exchanged Frosty Stairs.
* At that time, I was a venerable sixteen year old.
* I would like to learn to surf hens this is why I want to move to Australia.

(In case you're not so battle-hardened to poor spelling as I am, the second one meant that he was "vulnerable" when he was sixteen and the last chap meant to say "- hence this is why...".)

  4. Thanks for the translation - I'm usually pretty good at these, but I had NO idea on the hens/hence comment! I thought it was some way of describing a "rad" wave.

  5. Australia does have the best hen surfing in the whole world.

Frosty Stairs sounds like a stage name.

  6. Hens on surfboards......there is a song that has the line Chicken in choppers, so surf hens works for me!

  7. Is a venerable sixteen year old one of those people born middle-aged? Plenty of frosty stairs around Malvern town centre today, but the shoppers generally smile..
(living, as we do, on a considerable slope, there are several parts of Malvern accessed by very long flights of steps from one level to another)
