Daughters

Daughters - I know some people don't have them and I'm not suggesting that they're essential for happiness. But Daughter 2 and I went for a wet walk in the Botanic Gardens on Saturday, in between visits to my mother in hospital, and it was cheering.

And today Daughter 1 and I went for a sunny walk by Duddingston Loch and that was cheering too, especially since Grandson was with us and he just smiles and giggles his way through life.

And I too am a daughter and my role at the moment is to sit by my mum's bedside while she goes through the last few months (I think) of her life. She's very stalwart and I wish I could make things better for her. I hope she gets well enough to come home again.

You seem to both be a great daughter and have great daughters. I pray your mum comes home soon.

You are lucky to have daughters, and to be a daughter......I have two sons but no girls, and haven't been a daughter for many years now.

This is a very precious time for all of you, because of and despite the inevitable sadness.

I could have said exactly the same as Jennifer ahead of me, for that is true for me too. My late Mum died 21 years ago.
As I am soon to( offically ) have a daughter in Law, who is delightful that will be good in a very boy family; balance things a bit more.
Best Wishes to your Mum, I hope she improves to be with you all a little longer.
NJ must be 11 months now.....standing up?

I am sure your mother takes comfort in you just as you take comfort in your daughters. I too hope she improves and can come home soon.

Best wishes to your stalwart mum! She's lucky to have such a devoted daughter. The Prince is lucky too, but a little wanting in showing S-I-L his appreciation! I think he thinks it's her duty [to give up her northern life and come here to swelter in the heat and dance attendance....]Sisters,let it be said, come a very close second to daughters! Especially since I'm in the throes of packing to go see mine! I'll give a shout in the general direction of Edinburgh!

I have two daughters, too, and they are a great joy - and so are daughter number one's two sons, ages 7 and nearly 2, and daughter number two's two daughters, ages 4 and 2 (but soon to be 5 and 3). Daughter #1 is only a few miles away from me, but daughter #2 will soon be a good 8 hours drive....But it could be worse.

I hope your dear mother will rally and be able to come home again. These times are so difficult. My mother left us more than a decade ago and I miss her still.

Our daughter is a joy too, don't get to see her as often as we'd like, but try to make the most of each visit. I hope I was a good daughter, worry that I could have done a better job.

My daughter is wonderful. I haven't been a daughter for over 20 years and I don't think I'm much reckoned as a daughter-in-law. I do hope your Mum rallies and gets to come home. Thinking of you a lot.

You're so lucky to have wonderful daughters Isabelle -- and that they live relatively close to you. (6 hours is fairly close for us here in the states -- when you consider it could be several days distance....) I do hope your Mum will improve. And if I can ever get time at home on my computer, I shall send you a proper e-mail. ;-(

I miss being a daughter. It`s some years now since I lost my Mum. It is a very special friendship.

Enjoy your lovely daughters.x

I have been reading your blog for several months now. I started with your March 3,2006 posting and read until your June 19, 2012 posting - a total of 874 postings!

I have learned so much by following your travel posts. I knew so little about your part of the world.

Your love of family is evident throughout all your postings. I live in Lavergne, Tennessee, USA with my husband of almost 24 years. We are a blended family with five children and 12 grandchildren.

Please continue to post about your life. I eagerly await each post for I will be current now.
