Lockdown week 8 - Monday

Yet another beautiful day, though it's not so warm as it's been lately.

We went up on Murrayfield golf course. It's lovely to be able to see far away - the sea, Berwick Law - that pimple on the horizon above the clubhouse - and Calton Hill with the Observatory and Edinburgh's Disgrace. It gives one a sense of perspective, I suppose.

The trees are so different from when we started coming here.

Here's my little crossroads - I'm so fond of this spot.

Murrayfield have recently removed all their benches - I assume in case we sit on them and spread, or pick up, germs. Or possibly just to discourage loitering. But this part of the hill is Ravelston golf course, who haven't. So we loitered.

Comfrey, just coming out.

Another long view, this time of Arthur's Seat.

There's a bat box in this tree.

And then we walked home and watched the Scottish news, which featured Gogsy and his funeral. He was a taxi driver. His family decided that he should have a final drive round his favourite places in Edinburgh, which included Carrick Knowe golf course, where we've also been going, and the pub where we noticed people waiting the other day. Was it yesterday? All the days melt into one at the moment.

Here's the family at the crematorium, socially distanced. I think you're allowed ten people plus the funeral assistants (there must be a name for these). I'm sure he would have been amazed to know that his funeral was on television.

Two and a half miles today.

And then I spent some time rooting up Michaelmas daisies - not an easy task; they snake their roots among other things that I don't want to dig up - and had a little seat in the sun.

And that, apart from the usual cooking and quilting, was another day.

  1. You are getting some beautiful weather! After record breaking heat(80s), we're back to rain for the rest of the week. Loitering with Mr. L is fine, just not with other people not in your household. :)

  2. I think you are making your days good days, making the most of them. Seeing beautiful places, making beauty in your garden, cooking, thinking about your family...You are a creative person. It will get better.....someday.
It's still very cold here in Ohio, cold and rainy. In about nine days or so it will be too hot...
