The new abode of Daughter 2

I should point out that she also loves her dad. I just happened to get the sign (see previous post) - in fact, she took the photo on my camera without telling me.
Thank you for all your empty-nest sympathy, which I canvassed for a day early. She moved a lot of her stuff yesterday but is spending her first night in the flat tonight. She's just phoned us from bed.
That chintzy material is on its way out - won't do for the young and trendy. (The sofas, chairs and curtains came with the flat. Must tell you the tale of the flat one day.)
The house is very very quiet. Just Mr Life, me and the scampering furry people.

  1. I was going to refrain from commenting on the fabric, but since you assure me it's going, and not her choice, I'm vastly relieved.

Such a wonderful experience, to have one's own space. Good on her.

  2. Lovely to be playing grown up, having her own place. May she have wonderful times there!

  3. I couldn't figure out what you meant by "the sign" -- then I realized I'd missed a post. Hello DD2 -- you're looking adorable in your new flat. We can be empty nesters together Isabelle, our youngest left last weekend and just like you, we have his two cats to console us. At least DD1 and DD2 are in the same city, you're very lucky that way. ;-)

  4. I'm probably the odd one out again (NERD) but I rather like that chintz. It always reminds me of the upper class homes we would visit occasionally, when I was a child in the fifties. Very posh, very comfortable, and very unaffordable for my family!

  5. We love you too! Both of you (and we're quite fond of the cats).

  6. How exciting for her and her first night alone, how cute that she phoned you from bed.

  7. Such a milestone for her, leaving the parental nest! It will get easier for you over time (said the voice of experience, who was absolutely grief-stricken when the Lovely Son left home for the first time) and at least you have cats to sob quietly into.

Those curtains would fit right in to the B & B we stayed in near Oban....

  8. The last bastion of Laura Ashley! The flat itself looks great and I'm sure D2 will whip it into shape in no time.
