Family affairs

Oh, Grandson is such a joy in this sad stage in my life. He beams his way through his days. And one so seldom sees stripey trousers worn with such panache.

Daughter 2 came on an unscheduled visit to see my mother in hospital (and the other offspring went to visit too, yesterday). It was lovely to see her but then it's so horrible when she goes again. The cats were pleased with her visit also.

But the weekend was very wet indeed. This is the southern end of Cassie. She sat for some time like this, her head out of the catflap, as she considered going outside into the rain. A bit like Pooh in Rabbit's hole, when he'd overeaten and got stuck.

Mum is really not well and is intermittently quite confused. Thank goodness for Grandson and his giggles.

  1. I am sorry to hear about the condition of your mother's health. I hope you get to keep having your dose of Grandson on a regular basis!

  2. I'm sorry that your mother is not doing so well at the moment. I can see why a cute baby would be a welcome relief, and that baby is so very very cute! I was peek-a-booing a little one in a pram today in a shop queue, which is a bit of a life milestone don't you think? I would never have done that in my 20s.

  3. The word bittersweet came to mind reading this Isabelle, I suppose because joy and sadness are present in your life just now - not the right word I know but the one that sprang to mind......and also fancy pants for those trews!

  4. Hi Pat. Just catching up with blogs after an imposed sabbatical for some real life. This hasn't, however, made any significant improvement to domestic life, so here I am worrying about marking and mothers and bothersome complaints. I used to mark "Higher" Level GCSE speaking tests. I always knew when the first question provoked a declaration of the candidate's age that all did not bode well. Surely Comment t'appelles-tu? should be accessible enough? Bon courage. Some chapters are wearisome indeed.

  7. I am so sorry to hear your Mum is not doing so well, Isabelle - what a worry it must be for you all. But that little sunny grandson of yours seems to have perfected the means to get you all to smile! How gorgeous he is!

  9. Life can be very hard at times. You are caring for all your family so lovingly, and the ties of family love are very strong, and will see you all through. Thinking of you.

  10. 3 brilliant photos - you're right so few people can get away with horizontally striped trousers but GG (gorgeous grandson) does it with aplomb! And then a 2 cat/2 loved ones sprawl and finally Cassie's very expressive behind....

I'm sorry about your sad times but I'm glad it hasn't stopped you finding lovely moments nonetheless and sharing them with us.

  14. If only the pond weren't so big, I'd come to give you a hug.
Off topic, but why is it everyone elses cats sit on them but my cats never have. I sit very quitely. One would lie on me after I went to bed, but not sit and get petted.
