Happy Birthday - I think

My colleague Scott was 50 today. From my vantage point of 60, this seems relatively young and spring-chicken-like, and he's slim and natty with a full head of hair so he doesn't look at all like the picture above. Nevertheless, yesterday he was rather gloomy. "Becoming 50's been preying on my mind," he mourned. I was about to say, "Nonsense, you're just a child" or "You're in your prime" or "You've got lots of good years yet." But he beat me to it. "I might live till I'm 100," he sighed. "That's a whole other lifetime. I really don't know if I can be bothered."

Well, if it's cheerfulness that keeps people going, I'm not sure he has a lot to worry about...

Still, we had a nice little party for him today, with cake, and that seemed to help. And now it's the Easter holidays. Hooray!

(Sorry if this post is all different sized fonts. Blogger is misbehaving again.)

  1. Keep going with the font resizing, Isabelle - I can almost manage your blog without my specs now!

  2. I won't go into the fact that I'm 41 and how it's preying on my mind. I wouldn't want anyone to virtually throw something at my head. I would be helped by some cheerfullness, but it's just not my nature. I think I'm too set in my ways to try and get some.

  3. It's like an eye chart. I can manage the top line.

  6. I hate to say this but I have had the same thought as your colleague now and again...yet I give myself a quick kick up the backside (in my head as it were) and then count my blessings! Enjoy your holidays...

Time to transfer to Wordpress. You can transfer you entire blog and all content quite easily.

  8. I realised on Second Born's birthday recently that I am exactly four times as old as my son. And for some reason, that made me feel older than usual! (And can I put in a request for Scottsabode to give us a tutorial on migrating to Wordpress because Blogger is annoying me too!)
