Spluttering

Unless I've suddenly forgotten how to post photos - not at all impossible, considering my lack of techy instincts - there's something a bit funny about Blogger tonight. So, no photos. This is not a great loss since it's just been us and the cats today, apart from a brief visit to Daughter 1, Son-in-Law 1 and Grandson just before they were about to take the little chap to the doctor again.

The verdict from the doctor was that Grandson is still just suffering from a virus: his chest and ears are all right. Which is a relief, but he's really not well. They got back from visiting the other grandparents down south last night and came to tea. Grandson smiled when he saw us and croaked "Ga-ga!" with the enthusiastic timbre of a 90-year-old who's been on sixty ciggies a day since the age of fourteen. He staggered unsteadily into the house. "Dight! dight!" he wheezed, tottering into the back hall and switching off the power shower outside the bathroom. "Pussy!" he rasped as he held his hands out for the tiny knitted black cat in the dining room. His little face was white with red blotches under his eyes but he was pleased to see us and his toys.

He's slept most of today; I hope he sleeps at night as well, poor little crumb.

It's amazingly mild here. The shoots of snowdrops and crocuses and daffodils are poking through the earth. I have to keep reminding myself that two years ago we were surrounded by deep snow and it's not actually spring yet. But still: the days are getting longer. Good, good.

I feel I must achieve something in 2013. But what? And am I going to do it fiddling on the computer? Possibly not... .

  5. Poor little lad. I hope he soon feels well again.

I am totally confused by Blogger. After telling me I had run out of space, it has now increased the amount of photos I can store, without any more cost. Very confusing. Never mind, at least I have learned how to make the photos larger today. Little things....

Hope your photo facility soon returns to you!

  7. "Poor little crumb"...Hope it is only a virus, and that he will recover his health soon.
Weather seems to be the topic of conversation around the world at the moment. While you are having a mild winter, we are having one of the hottest summers on record Down Under. After a day of 42deg.C yesterday, I said to Ken I wanted to move to Tasmania (just a bit closer to the Antarctic), and five minutes later on the news it was reported that many homes had been burnt out in bushfires over there...

  9. Poor little chap. Hope it goes soon. Husband, who is usually wrapped in sweaters at this time of year, is complaining that the house is too hot! Well, it might be good to have lower fuel bills just after Christmas!
